Bokeh At It's Best

I recently saw a new technique on another blog, Butternut Sage Designs, and immediately fell in lust with it. I tried it out a couple of different ways and loved how easy it was. The technique is called "Bokeh" from the Japanese word for "blur" and is used by photographers to emphasize  a photo.

My initial attempt is no where near the quality of the example from Butternut Sage Design, but I'm happy with it. My next attempt will be better.

I used a 3/4" circle punch to make the highlights. If I use a 1/2" punch, I can get more on the page for a better effect.
The base card is Very Vanilla layered with gold miry paper, layered with another piece of Very Vanilla. I added eleven punched self stick dots to the paper and started in the lower right hand corner using Vintage Sepia with a sponge technique. After sponging the whole sheet, leaving a section much lighter for the sentiment, I added some Basic Black in the lower right hand corner. Then, slowly removing the dots, I sponged on ever so lightly, Blushing Bride, to the edges of the dots to give them some depth. I punched out a single dot in the center of a sticky note to use as a mask. Sepia was also used on some of the dots for depth. Next I added snowflakes in white as an accent. Finally, the sentiment.

I know I'll like this better with smaller dots and many more of them.

This can be used with any color, making sure you use the very pale pink as an accent. It can slo be used for any occasion.
