Snowy

Snowy the Snowman

Last year, I found a wonderful snowman from Penny Black. I used it for many of my cards and this year he is back, but I'm using a new background, the white birch tree embossing folder from Darcie.

I used Whisper White for my base card and Night of Navy for the embossing layer. After brayering on Whisper White ink to the folder, I ran it through the embosser with the dark paper. At first I didn't like it very much, but it grew on me.  After adding Snowy the snowman, some snow, first using a white pen for flakes, then, Tattered AngelGlimmer Mist, and then some flakes from SU for more texture, I really like it!

Snowy is colored using SU markers, Copic markers, and       glitter pen on his hat.

I think he is going to be one of my favorite cards again this year, but there are soooo many wonderful new stamps out there for Christmas that I just can't decide.

Remember: Get creative, make cards, have fun!

Thanks for visiting..Come back again soon to see some new additions.

Cardinal Outside The Window

Cardinal outside the window

Cardinals always mean that someone you've lost is near by, or so I've heard. Well, recently I noticed many new cards were showing the SU window on Christmas cards. I fell in love!

Last year I kept some cards that I received for Christmas to recycle, but didn't really know how I was going to do it until I found "the window."  Seriously, how could you NOT love this idea.

I got right to work and cut up the front of the card, mounted it behind the window, added some greenery, a wooden snowflake, a red button, some linen thread,  a thin lit "merry" to red shiny background paper, and some glitter to the snow on the branches. The base card is dove grey.

Here comes Christmas!!!

The papers, embellishments, buttons and thread are from SU.
The greens from MS punch.
The base card paper from Memory Box.

Here is the female Cardinal. I changed her message to "peace"and added a larger wooden snowflake and yellow button with linen thread.

Get busy, stamp often, and have fun!

Mr. & Mrs. Happy Anniversary

Anniversary cards are always in demand and having been on Pinterest for some time,
I have found a wonderful card that I truly enjoy making for those celebrating that special occasion. I found this great card by Linda Gutierrez at www.stampingyearround.typepad.com. I used what I had for paper and stamps to replicate the idea.

Side-bySide Mr & Mrs.

Linda had a stamp for her Mr. & Mrs. but I did mine by hand, and my Happy Anniversary is not on an oval but as you see a circle.

Remember: Get busy, make cards, have fun!

Girlfriends Make the BEST Accessories

Out on the Town

Girlfriends

A few weeks ago I was on Pinterest and found this wonderful card. It was clever, colorful, and got me all excited about making some new cards. I bought the stamp and got right to work. I tried three versions from the card I saw, Thank You, marilynscardsandmore.blogspot.ca, for the inspiration.

Here is my version of what Marilyn had on Pinterest. These ladies know how to make it work. They are having fun together. This is a Birthday card.
I used just Crimson, Copic marker to do the coloring of the clothes a touch of browns for the hair, and finally  Cool Grey for the glasses. To add a little texture and shine I used clear adhesive on their shoes, glasses, and tops of the pocketbooks.
The background is embossed and the girls are attached with pop dots.

This version of the girls is more fancy, as thought they were headed out on he town for a night of celebrating.
In order to get the effect I wanted I had to make this card a little bigger than a regular A4 card. This is 4.75 x 6."

My final version, so far, is very casual and more colorful. Again, I added the liquid glue to the glassed, shoes, earrings, and handbags.
I have had so much fun with this stamp that the ideas just keep coming.

Thanks for stopping by and remember: Get busy, make cards, have fun!
